Belgrade Summer Festival
The spirit of Belgrade in summer is described and confirmed by Belef, Belgrade Summer Festival. The festival comprises
three major art domains: stage art (theater and dance), visual arts (video-art, inslallations,
performances and prints) and music. Through a series of visiting presentations, Belef own production and co-production with cultural institutions, summer festivals of the same kind, Belef induces further engagements, upbringing and development of creative potentials, interest and researching force of individuals and audience at large. Interacting with the environment, animating new urban areas and sites of cultural happenings, the Belgrade Summer Festival eagerly tells a story of Belgrade as large city and its tolerant, communicative and urban kind.
With Belef Belgrade is an open city. Its numerous attractions, such as Klamegdan fortress, Ada Ciganlija, the blocks of Novi Beograd, the Sava and the Danube river banks, just as theaters as well, are the places where the best essence is presented and inspired. At first this induces a sweet-bitter sensation, temptation, stimulus to go on and then becomes a valuable memory.
Belef was founder under the auspices of the City of Belgrade Assembly, namely the Secretariat of culture. They are in charge of appointing the members of the Belef council, the council president and the selectors for the three artistic categories (two-year mandate). The charges include also the selection of the production executive and other program related activities.
